To qualify as a "Michigan Rising Star", candidates must be 40-years-old or under and have been practicing for 10 years or less. Candidates must be nominated by a fellow attorney who has witnessed them in action - whether as co-counsel, as opposing counsel or through first-hand observation. An attorney-led research team then reviews each candidate and assigns points based on a set of defined criteria. Lawyers are ranked by the final point total and those with the highest totals are named to the "Rising Stars" list.
